Lenoir City Utilities Board is honored to host the 22nd Annual Tennessee Valley Lineman Rodeo on Friday and Saturday, June 21-22. This family friendly event is free and open to the public and will take place at the TVA Bussell Ferry Park located at Highway 321 at the intersection of Junction 444 in Lenoir City, TN.

What is the Rodeo? It's a two-day competitive event that was started in 1998 by and for the employees of the Tennessee Valley Authority Power Distributors and recognizes and rewards linemen from across the Tennessee Valley for excellence in safety, skill and knowledge in their field. It includes competitive events for apprentices, journeyman teams of three, individual linemen and senior individuals (age 45 and up). Both individual and team events will involve simulated situations on both the utility pole and on the ground.

The event kicks into full gear Friday, June 21st at 1:30pm with the Opening Ceremonies. Individual and Senior Events will get underway shortly thereafter.

Get there early on Saturday for a full day of competition. Apprentice and Team Events begin at 8am and continue throughout the day. Come cheer on your favorite teams as they compete in pole climbs, transformer change-out races and even an egg climb!

There's fun for the kids too with a Kid's Zone consisting of a bouncy house, fun slide and Children's Rodeo! The Rodeo is a timed competition consisting of simulated fun with two winners and includes the following events:

  • Handline Material to Lineman
  • Tie Conductor to Insulator
  • Energize Line by Closing Fuse
  • Check Voltage at Transformer
