Neighbor Aide Program

The Lenoir City Utilities Board (LCUB) and Lenoir City Fire Department will be conducting our semi-annual water distribution system wide flushing program per Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation Water Quality Control Requirements. The Flushing Program will occur for LCUB customers on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. thru Saturday, April 20, 2024, until 3:00 p.m.

The program goals are to identify problems in the water system and ultimately have them corrected. When fire hydrants are flowed, iron deposits in the water lines become agitated. This may cause a brown discoloration to the water in the area which is being flushed. This condition is only temporary and will normally correct itself in a number of hours. During this period of flushing, LCUB recommends that you flow your cold water prior to use to determine if there is any discoloration. While the water is still safe for consumption, we recommend not laundering white clothes without first testing the water for discoloration. If your water is discolored, it will clear up on its own under normal usage over a period of time. It is also best to limit the use of your hot water until the water flows clear as this will keep the iron deposits from going into your water heater.  You may also notice a drop in water pressure during these times; however, the water pressure should return to normal within a short period of time.

If you continue to experience difficulty with your water pressure or continue to have discoloration of water on Monday, April 29, 2024, please contact LCUB at 1-844-OUR-LCUB (687-5282) to report the problem.
